Music is a spiritual journey for me, through which I not only discover the world but also myself. Every note is a step closer to the deepest manifestation of existence.

Music and Me
My name is Sándor Szabó, a multi-instrumentalist performer, composer, and independent music researcher. For me, music is more than just art—it is a transcendental force field that can be directly experienced, revealing a continuously unfolding, more complete world. In my concerts, improvisation plays a central role, making each performance unique and unrepeatable. My aim is to create a shared experience of presence with my audience.
In my music, the ancient meets the modern, and the eastern intertwines with the Western musical world. In addition to guitars, I play numerous exotic Eastern stringed and plucked instruments. For over four decades, I have traveled the world with my music and performances, earning recognition as an internationally acclaimed musician. As a “musical archaeologist,” I explore the possible classical music of our ancestors, transforming my findings into artistic expressions for contemporary audiences during my concerts.
Listen to my latest albums
The Art of the 16-string Guitar IV
This album is the fourth volume in a series I began decades ago. It also differs conceptually from the first three albums. I set out to explore new compositional ideas rarely heard on the guitar, and this was paired with an additional concept: performing duos and trios with myself, though a few pieces have remained as solos.
Echolocation XI
The eleventh installment of the Echolocation album series features a highly acclaimed guest musician, Arve Henriksen.
Echolocation XII. Forgotten Hymns
The twelfth installment of the Echolocation album series features special guest musicians Vera Brátán, Mark Wingfield, and Emil Gherasim.
The Szabó-Major Oriental Project
